Meade Refractor

Meade refractor telescopes are made to give a clear view of faraway objects such as the moon, stars, planets and other images in the skies. Refractor telescopes have two lenses and a tube. The objective lens is at the front end of the telescope. The other lens is the eyepiece. Light is gathered by the objective lens and bent to a focus close to the back of the telescope tube. The eyepiece brings the image to the user’s eye and magnifies it. Meade refractor telescopes have apochromatic refractors designed to prevent chromatic aberration. Chromatic aberration is the term for rainbow images that can sometimes be seen around objects viewed through refractors.

There are several types of Meade refractor telescopes available. They come in different sizes and have a variety of features. The Meade Series 5000 ED APO Triplets have triple objective lenses made from extra low dispersion glass. These refractors have multicoated lenses for the maximum transmission of light. They have a high resolution and contrast. The Crayford focusers on these instruments provide very fine focus control.

The Meade ETX 70AT has an Autostar hand controller. This controller can be used to find over 1400 celestial objects. Users can select the object they want to see, enter the information into the Autostar display and pres s GO TO. The object will be visible in the telescope almost immediately. This telescope is easy to use. Users can put it on a level surface, align the telescope computer and begin viewing. The computer alignment takes about 60 seconds.

The ETX 80AT model is portable. It comes with a sturdy backpack which will hold the telescope and accessories. This backpack can be used for transportation or storage.

The NG Series Altazimuth Refractors will give close up views of the cloud belts of Jupiter and Saturn’s rings. Nebulae, bright star cluster and double stars can be seen with these Meade refractors. They come with DVD software to chart the nighttime skies.
